monday was darling's birthday. headed out to a little restaurant and bar he read about in TODAY.

Place name: El Toro. Type: Spanish food

since the indoor sitting on the second floor was all to us, i took photos of the deco. quite a nice place, with a large screen projected with images of beautiful scenery. there's even a stage for a live band, but too bad it wasnt playing on monday night.

their food and drinks menu, left and right respectively.

our food! the complimentary nachos were crispy and goes well with the dip. best of all, they are refillable!

he wanted for our appetizer the grilled calamari that received a good review. but we were unfortunately one table too late, another table ordered the last plate! so we changed to having the prawns. the sauce was quite sour, but we still finished all on the plated, including the tomatoes and capsicums.

main course: the seafood paella. don't be fooled by its appearance-it really does manage to feed two! the rice was flavourful and soft, and there was a lot of seafood, including prawns, mussels, fish and scallops.

dessert: churros! two thumbs up for this one! nicely fried dough sticks with cinnamon, dipped into a yummy chocolate dip. at first i thought how hard could it be to fry some dough, but then the churros did not taste oily at all, nor was it too soggy or too dry. i like!!

honeymoon will be in barcelona, when we have the money. meanwhile, let's take a photo with a spanish backdrop.

the total bill came up to about $70, which was quite steep. but well, its his birthday (and he paid :p lol). service staff was friendly but their constant walking around can be a bit distracting.

and after that we caught the movie 'i love you, man' using his GV birthday 1-for-1 voucher. the movie nicely captured the essence of the friendship between two guys, and how that bond is so different from that between a couple. funny movie too!

my happy boy. hope you had a happy birthday =)

i'm looking forward to dimsum buffet at marriot hotel on saturday! yay!
